TASQC Program Description
With the Support of the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), through USAID Zimbabwe, JF Kapnek Zimbabwe in collaboration with OPHID and ZNNP+ are implementing the Target, Accelerate and Sustain Quality Care (TASQC) for HIV epidemic control program in Masvingo Province. The TASQC Program Team works with the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) to contribute to the achievement and sustainability of HIV epidemic control in Zimbabwe.
The Program which is guided by the national strategic plans for HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment aims to contribute to the achievement and sustainability of HIV epidemic control in Zimbabwe through the provision of technical, financial, and material support towards the management, coordination, and provision of comprehensive clinical care services within the national HIV program. By the end of 2025, the TASQC program aims to have supported the MOHCC to achieve the 95-95-95 targets, by ensuring that most of the HIV infected people are identified and initiated on Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART), also by making sure that more people on ART remain on treatment and have a low viral load.
Key activities
• JF Kapnek provides site-level technical assistance and direct service delivery to
ensure comprehensive implementation of national guidelines, procedures, and
other standards of practice at service delivery points to maintain and improve
quality of services provided at health facilities.
• Targeted HIV testing -Aim of achieving yields of 10% or greater
• Facility index case testing
• Package of services for HIV negative clients (VMMC, PrEP, condoms, risk
reduction counselling).
• Routine enquiry for IPV in index case testing, OI/ART and PrEP
• Same Day Treatment and Optimal Treatment regimen
• TB screening and Prevention
• Cervical Cancer-screening and treatment
• Long-term Care and Retention
The program will play a role in strengthening the national capacity to collect and analyse data for decision-making and encourage engagement of the private sector in the national HIV response.15 districts from 4 Provinces (Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Chitungwiza, Masvingo are targeted for this program which encompasses mitigation of cross-cutting issues of Gender-based violence impact (GBV), employing Positive Youth Development (PYD) approaches to design and deliver comprehensive youth-friendly service packages as well as integrating mental health in all HIV prevention, care and treatment services among other efforts.
